The STEM Everywhere middle school curriculum spans four main themes: BodySMART, which focuses on health and performance through interactive sensor projects; CyberSMART, teaching cybersecurity through practical circuits and electronic builds; World of Water, exploring ocean life and technologies like 3D printing and robotics; and Space Frontiers, where students engage with space exploration concepts and technologies to simulate and understand the challenges of navigating and inhabiting space.

STEM Everywhere is built on the foundation of earlier initiatives funded by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and NASA, which focused on making STEM learning more hands-on and relevant for students. The four engaging modules in this program are directly inspired by those projects—designed to bring real-world science, technology, engineering, and math into everyday classroom experiences through circuits, data science, hardware, and software exploration.

Free STEM Everywhere Instructional Content

Each theme integrates STEM learning with hands-on projects to deepen understanding and stimulate student interest in mechatronics, science, and technology.

All four STEM Everywhere units are available for free within the Expert Content library on Scoutlier.
They can be used as is or adapted to suit the specific needs of your students and your classroom.

Thank you to our many partners who have helped to make this program possible.

STEM Everywhere Professional Development

Interested in bringing STEM Everywhere to your classroom?
Scoutlier’s STEM Everywhere workshop is a hands-on, minds-on experience that helps educators explore ways to teach core science and STEM concepts through real-world investigations and student-led discovery. Grounded in engineering and science practices, the workshop equips teachers with plug-and-play lessons and the tools to customize content using Scoutlier’s platform.

What the Workshop Covers:

  • Everyday STEM Connections: Teachers learn how to help students see that STEM is all around them—from the food they eat to the energy they use and the technology they carry.
  • Hands-On Learning with Circuits & Sensors: Participants engage in investigations using basic circuits, data-collection tools (such as sensors), and interactive modeling to explore concepts like energy transfer, systems thinking, and data interpretation.
  • Integrating Science + Engineering: The workshop blends the science of asking questions and collecting evidence with the engineering of solving real-world problems.
  • Lesson Customization & Accessibility: Educators practice adapting lessons in the STEM Everywhere collection to their own grade level and student needs using Scoutlier’s scaffolded assignment tools.

Microcredential Opportunity:

Participants who complete the PD and demonstrate classroom implementation are eligible for the STEM Everywhere Microcredential, awarded for:

  • Applying NGSS-aligned STEM practices in instruction,
  • Facilitating student investigations that use data and real-world tools,
  • Adapting Scoutlier-based lessons to meet the needs of their classroom.

Who Should Attend:

Ideal for 5–8 teachers, STEM specialists, curriculum leads, and afterschool educators looking to make science more engaging and relevant—whether in classrooms, clubs, or makerspaces.
