About Scoutlier

Empowering Educators, Transforming Learning

At Scoutlier, we believe that every student deserves engaging, effective, and equitable learning experiences that prepare them for success in school and beyond. That’s why we’ve created a powerful platform and comprehensive curriculum library designed to empower educators to scaffold, differentiate, and inspire learning in any classroom.

Our Story

Scoutlier was born from a collaboration between educators, scientists, and researchers at the Sana Project at MIT, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and 4pt0 Schools. Funded by the Office of Naval Research Education and Workforce and Naval STEM Coordination Office, we set out to create a tool that would support effective and equitable learning outcomes for all students.

Since launching in 2018, Scoutlier has grown to support over 3,000 teachers across a wide range of subjects, from STEM and CTE to Art, Music, and Special Education. We’ve partnered with leading organizations like FIRST Lego League, Stanford University’s SCALE program, and The Center for Educational Innovation to bring high-quality, research-based curriculum to classrooms everywhere.

Our Mission

Scoutlier is dedicated to empowering educators with the tools, resources, and support they need to create transformative learning experiences for all students. We strive to:

  • Increase student engagement by enabling hands-on, minds-on learning that connects to the real world
  • Improve learning outcomes by providing scaffolded, differentiated instruction that meets the needs of all learners
  • Enhance equity and access by ensuring that every student has the opportunity to engage with high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum
  • Save teachers time by streamlining lesson planning, delivery, and assessment, freeing them to focus on supporting student growth
  • Drive innovation in education by continuously developing and refining our platform and content library based on the latest research and best practices

Our Approach

Scaffolded, Differentiated Instruction to Inspire Every Student

Scoutlier’s platform and content are designed to support all learners by breaking down complex tasks, providing multimodal resources, and offering multiple pathways to demonstrate understanding. Our scaffolded approach ensures that every student can access and engage with the right content at the right time.

Engaging, Real-World Learning

We believe that learning is most effective when it is relevant, meaningful, and engaging. That’s why Scoutlier’s Enrichment Library emphasizes hands-on activities, authentic problems, and real-world connections. By immersing students in rich, experiential learning experiences, we help them develop critical skills and deep understanding.

Research-Based Best Practices

Everything we do at Scoutlier is grounded in the latest research on teaching and learning. We partner with leading experts and institutions, like the National Science Foundation, to ensure that our platform and content reflect evidence-based best practices. We also conduct rigorous studies to evaluate the impact of Scoutlier on student outcomes and continuously refine our approach based on the data.

Educator Empowerment

We recognize that teachers are the key to transforming education. That’s why we’ve designed Scoutlier to empower educators with the tools and support they need to be successful. From our intuitive authoring tools and comprehensive curriculum library to our EngagED professional development program, we’re committed to helping teachers unlock their full potential.
