Mechatronics Hands-On Learning

The Mechatronics Workshop is a STEM program that explores career pathways in rapidly evolving fields such as automation, coding, fabrication, and smart devices.

Unlock the future of smart infrastructure with our Mechatronics Workshop materials, designed for K–12 students and educators! These materials combine robotics, coding, and engineering design challenges, helping students develop the critical skills needed to become the creators of tomorrow’s technology. They serve as entry-level materials for four different challenges hosted on our platform.

Through experiential learning, students gain real-world problem-solving skills, while teachers discover how to connect STEM education with industry needs in their communities. Prepare youth for careers in advanced robotics, energy systems, and smart cities, equipping them with the tools to shape a better future for all.

Get Professional Development with Scoutlier

Scoutlier’s Mechatronics Professional Development Workshops offer K–12 educators a hands-on, engaging introduction to real-world STEM concepts that combine mechanical systems, electronics, coding, and data. These workshops are designed to empower teachers to bring mechatronics into their classrooms in accessible and exciting ways—no prior engineering experience required.

What the Workshop Covers:

  • Core Mechatronics Concepts: Teachers learn how motors, sensors, microcontrollers (like micro:bit), and simple circuits work together to create intelligent systems.
  • Classroom-Ready Projects: Educators build and program simple, interactive models that align with middle and high school STEM standards.
  • Career Connections: The workshop emphasizes real-world applications in fields such as automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing.
  • Tech Tools: Participants become familiar with tools and techniques for implementing mechatronics activities in diverse classroom settings.
  • Platform Integration: All lessons are scaffolded using Scoutlier’s multimodal platform, making it easy to support learners of all levels.

Microcredential Opportunity:

Educators who complete the workshop and demonstrate implementation in their classroom or with students can earn a Scoutlier Mechatronics Microcredential. This recognition verifies their:

  • Understanding of key mechatronics principles,
  • Ability to lead hands-on student projects,
  • Use of data and sensors to support engineering design thinking.

Follow-up experiences may include submitting student samples, reflecting on implementation, and adapting a mechatronics lesson using Scoutlier’s platform.

Who Should Attend:

Perfect for STEM teachers, CTE instructors, makerspace leaders, or any educator interested in blending physical computing with real-world problem solving. No prior robotics experience is necessary.
